Linear Actuators
At MPC, the final selection for an application depends on power consumption, environment, life, duty cycle, size, weight, reliability, maintenance schedule, load, speed, stroke, accuracy, and cost.
Certain common features exist in all MPC linear actuators which are independent of screw type. All screws are thrust-supported by anti-friction ball or roller bearings. The translating ram which interfaces with the driven device acts as an effective dirt shield for the screw mechanism and has an internally built-in, low-friction, anti-rotation support. The ram is also radially supported with low- friction bushes which have an outboard seal. High-strength, corrosion-resistant materials are used internally and externally.
Close attention is given to the internal mechanical stops to allow repeated, non-jamming operation. Since the end stops can be expected to cause some of the highest load conditions seen on a linear actuator if impacted at high speed, energy absorbing devices are employed.
We utilize precision machine finishing to provide accurate alignment and fit of the component parts. This finishing assures smooth, uniform screw performance over the full stroke length. MPC maintains complete control over the design and manufacture of these products.
When these devices are combined with MPC's standard product line of aircraft-qualified motors, geartrains, and transducers, a highly reliable application proven actuator results. MPC can serve the needs of diverse applications with flexibility and confidence.
